Green Corridor for Air Quality Management Area, Stone, Dartford, Kent

LHLA was invited by Stone Parish Council to prepare a Green Corridor Study for an AQMA designated on a busy 'A' road close to the M25 and the Dartford Crossing. The study was required as evidence for the Stone Neighbourhood Plan, currently under preparation.

Air pollution is identified by the WHO as the single largest environmental risk to health; road transport emissions are the largest source of urban air pollution in the UK. Green Infrastructure is vital to mitigation for poor air quality.

A SWOT assessment and site assessment were undertaken, and opportunities identified for Green Corridor Proposals. An Action Plan identifies a number of potential projects. The next step is to cross reference this study with the Proposed Stone Pedestrian and Cycle Plan, identify priorities and delivery.
