Paragraph 79 House in Graveney, near Faversham, Kent

This Paragraph 79 House is sited on the edge of the Kent Marshes close to the Swale SSSI, SPA and Ramsar. LHLA worked with jhd Architects to prepare a Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment which informed the design of the house and its setting.

The site is surrounded by marsh or drained marsh on three sides; the house hunkers down into this low-lying landscape. It is framed by a steel arch pergola structure with tensioned cables supporting climbing plants, and protected from salt-laden winds by a shelter belt which allows a framed view across Graveney Marsh.

The LVIA acknowledges the strong relationship between the house and the surrounding landscape.

The application is being appealed due to lack of determination.
